[Saba Sports News] Michael Malone was visibly frustrated following Sunday’s devastating season-ending loss.
The Denver Nuggets, defending champions, were ousted from the playoffs after a 98-90 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 7 of their second-round series. Despite leading by as much as 20 points in the second half, Denver’s significant lead evaporated, culminating in the largest comeback in Game 7 NBA history.
In the post-game press conference, when asked by a reporter about the difficulty of losing after being up by 20, Malone showed his irritation with a profane dismissal of the question. “Next question, man,” Malone responded sharply. “The season’s over. That’s what’s hard. F–k being up 20. The season’s over. You don’t understand that. The season’s over, it’s hard.”
Malone also muttered “Stupid a– questions,” under his breath, suggesting the question was more about narrative than actual game strategy or execution, which he found unhelpful at the moment.
Malone, known for his outspoken demeanor particularly during Denver’s successful title run last season, showed a change in tone. When facing the loss, his response was less composed, indicating a shift from his usual spirited interaction with the media during more triumphant times.
