[Saba Sports News] Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks was dramatic, but many fans felt something was missing at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
The Celtics dominated the Mavericks 107-89 to take a 1-0 series lead. A viral post on X noted the absence of the Larry O’Brien Trophy logo on the court, which used to be a hallmark of the NBA Finals.
“Larry O’Brien at half court used to give the Finals a different aura,” the post’s caption read, echoing the sentiments of several fans who missed the iconic design.
Despite the missing logo, Celtics fans kept the atmosphere electric throughout the game. Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic led all scorers with 30 points and 10 rebounds, but he had just one assist and was visibly battling an injury.
Former Mavericks teammate Kristaps Porzingis, now with the Celtics, shone in Game 1. Porzingis, who had missed the last two playoff rounds with a calf issue, scored 20 points and had 3 blocks off the bench, dispelling any injury concerns.
