[Saba Sports News] A new video angle has surfaced capturing the physical altercations involving several Connecticut Sun players and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark during Tuesday night’s 88-71 Fever win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Clark led Indiana with 20 points, but the game quickly turned heated. In the second quarter, she exchanged words with Sun guard Jacy Sheldon and responded by shoving her in the chest.
Tensions escalated further in the third quarter when Marina Mabrey shoved Clark to the floor during another confrontation. Sheldon received a flagrant foul for her contact, while Mabrey was assessed a technical. Clark and Sun center Tina Charles were also hit with double technicals during the scuffle.
The newly released video angle sheds additional light on just how aggressively Clark was being targeted throughout the game, with multiple Sun players swarming her during key moments.
Late in the fourth quarter, Fever forward Sophie Cunningham delivered a hard foul on Sheldon, leading to another dust-up. Cunningham, Sheldon, and Sun guard Lindsay Allen were all ejected from the contest.
The video has reignited conversation about how the WNBA officiates physical play involving Clark. Critics have argued since last season that she often doesn’t receive adequate protection from the referees — and this latest footage seems to further that perception.
