[Saba Sports News] The media outlet “Scoop” cited Malaysia Badminton Academy’s singles head coach Kenneth Jonassen, stating that Malaysia’s men’s singles player Ng Tze Yong, who has suffered from injuries, has returned to the court this week to engage in on-court training. It is reported that the 24-year-old Ng Tze Yong has been away from competitions for a year due to back injuries and underwent surgery twice last year. In May last year, the Badminton Association of Malaysia applied to the Badminton World Federation for a ranking protection for Ng Tze Yong (ranked 18th) to allow him to return without starting over from lower-tier tournaments. In December last year, Ng attempted to resume training but it ended in failure. He has since been undergoing rehabilitation training under a strength training program developed by the National Sports Institute of Malaysia (NSI). In January of this year, Jonassen, who officially joined the Malaysian badminton coaching team, indicated that he hopes to adopt a steady and planned approach to ensure Ng Tze Yong’s health and competitive condition, avoiding a hasty return. Currently, the Badminton Association of Malaysia has arranged for Ng Tze Yong to have on-court training three times a week, taking a gradual approach, with relevant personnel maintaining communication to ensure he recovers to his best state both on and off the court.
