[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United ‘Class of 92’ member Nicky Butt is facing a compensation claim amounting to thousands of pounds after a traffic accident he caused resulted in a man suffering a leg fracture. The 50-year-old former Manchester United star is being sued by motorcyclist Adam Fielding. In October 2022, Butt, driving a Land Rover, pulled out of a junction in Burnley and collided with Fielding’s Honda motorcycle. Last year, Butt pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was sentenced by Blackburn magistrates to a one-year driving ban. Now, Butt faces a separate civil lawsuit. The 29-year-old Fielding previously described enduring nearly two years of constant pain following the incident. He was hospitalized for two weeks with a fractured left leg and required surgery to insert a metal pin. The accident led to him losing his physically demanding job, impacted his social life, and resulted in his girlfriend becoming his caregiver, which altered their relationship. Fielding, who previously worked at Screwfix, is represented by the personal injury claims firm Minster Law. It is currently unclear how much compensation Butt might be required to pay. Butt has apologized, stating that he thinks about the accident every day. Before a decision is made on whether Butt is liable to pay compensation, the judge must rule on several issues. If Butt loses the case, it is expected that his insurance company will pay the compensation to Fielding, which is common practice in car accident lawsuits.
