[Saba Sports News] After winning the F1 World Championship, Lando Norris admitted in an interview in Abu Dhabi that some of his past comments about Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were clearly inappropriate, and looking back, he truly regrets them. He revealed that he had stated Verstappen dominated the track thanks to the fastest car, and when refuting Hamilton, he claimed that Hamilton only had the fastest car seven years ago. This season, the debate over the balance between drivers and cars has been ongoing, especially after Verstappen openly suggested that if he were driving a McLaren, he would have already secured the championship. Norris publicly countered those remarks without hesitation. Now standing at the height of a world champion, Norris expressed that such confrontational statements have led him to reflect calmly afterward. He emphasized that his past comments were more emotional reactions in the heat of the moment but, deep down, he has always respected his competitors more than anyone else. Whether it’s Oscar Piastri, Verstappen, or the seven-time legend Hamilton whom he has always admired, he maintains a high standard of respect. Norris candidly stated that misunderstandings and comments from the outside world often annoy him, but he has learned not to be swayed by public opinion.
