[Saba Sports News] Japanese player Kaneko Yuki, born in 1994, is married to badminton women’s doubles Olympic champion Ayaka Takahashi. The couple got married in 2020 and welcomed a baby girl in 2022. Compared to his wife, Yuki Kaneko’s international record is not as impressive. He has partnered with Inoue Takuto in men’s doubles and Misaki Matsutomo in mixed doubles, but his results have been average. In recent years, Kaneko’s best achievements have been the mixed doubles runner-up at the 2021 All England Badminton Championships and the men’s doubles champion at the 2018 German Badminton Open. On March 31, Kaneko announced his official retirement through social media, stating that he will transition to a doubles coach in the future. He expressed gratitude for the 12 years spent with the team, which provided him with invaluable experiences, and thanked the company for their support, as well as the staff and teammates who have been with him all along. Starting this year, he will embark on a new journey, working alongside the players to grow and develop together.
