[Saba Sports News] At the end of November, Lee Yang, the former partner of Wang Chi Lin, the men’s doubles champion of the 2024 Olympics in badminton, faced questions during a business report. The reason was that Wang Chi Lin, who had been his partner during his athlete career, has evaded drug tests twice and is currently untraceable. If a third violation occurs, he could face a suspension.
Lee Yang explained that he is aware of this situation and often reminded Wang Chi Lin during their time as athletes. Currently, Wang Chi Lin has set an alarm to avoid such incidents from happening again. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s regulations, if an athlete misses tests or fails to report their whereabouts three times within 12 months, it constitutes a doping violation. Violators may face penalties such as suspension or disqualification of results.
If Wang Chi Lin evades testing again, he could be suspended for 1 to 2 years. After Lee Yang’s retirement, Wang Chi Lin partnered with Chiu Hsiang Chieh to compete in men’s doubles, winning the men’s doubles championship at both the Taipei Badminton Open and the Hai Lu Badminton Open this year. Currently, the pair ranks 12th in the men’s doubles category worldwide and are strong contenders for the next Olympic men’s doubles championship.
