Instead, he attributes the performance gap to subtle differences in power unit deployment strategies.In his view, small discrepancies in the power unit can be amplified significantly, eventually translating into clear speed differences in single-lap pace. Even within the same team, substantial variations in straight-line speed can occur between different drivers or between different laps by the same driver. Seemingly incidental operational errors can have a knock-on effect elsewhere on the track, making it overly simplistic to explain the performance advantage with a single setting or mode.
In my opinion, Piastri’s analysis focuses on systematic performance differences rather than isolated technical features, reflecting his deep understanding of F1 car engineering logic. It underlines that such an advantage does not stem from a single “magic trick” or secret technology, but from the accumulation of small gains across the board.
