[Saba Sports News] Oscar Piastri had a terrible weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix. Due to an electrical fault in the power unit, he didn’t even get to start the race and could only watch from the pit. After the race, he joked that he hadn’t watched F1 on TV for two consecutive weeks. Although Piastri secured fifth place in the qualifying sessions for both the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix, he has yet to compete in a real race. In Australia, he hit the wall during the warm-up lap; in China, his car retired from the race due to electrical issues. Missing the races for two consecutive weeks left the 24-year-old Australian driver very disappointed. To make matters worse, McLaren teammate Lando Norris also experienced a fault with his car during the pre-race startup phase and was unable to compete. Piastri believes that the complexity of the new generation of power unit regulations is a major reason for the frequent issues.
The editor believes that the current F1 power unit system is very complex, with many interconnected aspects; sometimes, changing one thing can have completely unexpected effects elsewhere.
