[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, over 600 people attended the funeral of former Liverpool Women’s team manager Matt Beard. The atmosphere was solemn and dignified, filled with grief for the beloved coach. His brother Mark, in his eulogy, recalled Matt’s humorous and kind character, sharing a joke about Matt having coached “the best clubs in the world – like Millwall,” which elicited gentle laughter from the crowd. He also shared a story about Matt’s well-trained dog. However, the eulogy eventually turned to a heavier theme. After thanking the hospital nurses for their full efforts to save Matt, Mark pleaded with everyone to learn a lesson from Matt’s passing: “be more considerate.” The most heartbreaking moment of the service came when Matt’s sister, Lucy, performed an acoustic version of the Liverpool anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The last time she had sung it publicly was during the champagne celebration in 2022 when her brother’s team won the championship. Now, circumstances had changed entirely. Her voice echoed within the church, creating an extremely moving scene.
