[Saba Sports News] In the 13th round of South American World Cup qualifiers, Leandro Paredes started and helped Argentina secure a 1-0 victory over Uruguay. After the match, Paredes was interviewed by the media and confirmed the existence of a release clause in his contract with Roma specifically for a potential return to Boca Juniors. Earlier, Roma announced that Paredes had extended his contract until June 2026, but reports from Argentina revealed that Paredes’ contract includes a €3 million release clause, which only applies if Boca wants to sign him. Paredes confirmed: “The clause for Boca is real; it’s only for Boca, not for any other club. I haven’t discussed it with Boca’s management; it was agreed between my club and me. I’m very grateful to Roma. Although the contract extension was going to happen because of my match appearances and almost completing my objectives, the club chose to extend it early and included this clause. I hope to continue my career and one day return to Boca.” Paredes started his career in Boca’s youth system and played 31 matches for their first team, scoring five goals.
