[Saba Sports News] Last weekend, the Badminton Association of Korea held a board meeting and appointed Park Joo Bong as the head coach of the national team. He will officially take over the Korean team after the Badminton Asia Championships, with his first term ending in late 2026. The Badminton Association of Korea stated in a notice that Coach Park Joo Bong is a person who has left a significant mark in the history of badminton, and considering his coaching experience and excellent leadership abilities, he will be the most suitable person to lead the national team. Regarding this appointment, Park Joo Bong expressed that he is very happy to be entrusted with this responsibility but also feels the weight of responsibility. Park Joo Bong revealed that he will lead the national team through systematic training and successful strategic principles to allow players to perform at their best. Data shows that Park Joo Bong is a legendary player in the Korean badminton community, winning the men’s doubles gold medal with Kim Moon-Soo at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the mixed doubles silver medal with Ra Kyung-min at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In 2001, Park Joo Bong was inducted into the Badminton World Federation Hall of Fame, becoming the first Korean player to be inducted.
