[Saba Sports News] Australian cricket star Travis Head recently tested positive for COVID-19 following the first Test against West Indies. His condition puts his participation in the upcoming second Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, in doubt. However, Australian captain Pat Cummins provided an optimistic update, suggesting that Head is nearing recovery and could be a key player in the Brisbane Test lineup.
Cummins, quoted by India Today, mentioned, “I think he’s almost out of it. He’ll be fine, and he’ll train tonight. Obviously, even if he is still positive he can still play, there might just be a few protocols.” This indicates that while Head might not be fully recovered, he could still play, adhering to certain health protocols.
Additionally, Cummins addressed the incident involving all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was hospitalized after a night of excessive alcohol consumption at a private event.
Cummins emphasized personal responsibility, stating that Maxwell’s actions were his own and unrelated to the cricket team. “We’re all adults, been part of night outings, you have got to make your own decisions. I suppose in this actual incident, he was obviously not on tour with the Australians, he was over there for a private event, he was not with the cricket team. So, it is a little bit different. Absolutely, any decision that you make, you have got to own it and be comfortable with it,”
Cummins remarked during a press conference. This comment reflects Cummins’ view on personal accountability, especially when players are not on official team duty.
