[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia 76ers fans held their breath Monday as newly acquired star Paul George exited the preseason game with a leg injury.
The Sixers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 104-89 at State Farm Arena, but the score seemed secondary for fans after George left midway through the second quarter.
He hyperextended his knee while defending a drive by Hawks forward Jalen Johnson. George was immediately subbed out and didn’t return, finishing with eight points and two rebounds on 3-for-5 shooting.
The nine-time All-Star struggled with injuries during his five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, missing a total of 127 games. However, he managed to stay relatively healthy last season, sitting out just eight games.
With the 76ers already planning to manage Joel Embiid’s workload for the postseason, they’re hoping George can avoid the injury bug as well.
