[Saba Sports News] According to Malaysian media reports, Malaysia’s top women’s badminton doubles pair, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, will each receive an annual salary of up to 1 million Malaysian Ringgit after agreeing to sign a new contract with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). This remuneration package was finalized in a previous BAM council meeting. Although earlier rumors suggested the world No. 2 pair had requested a new contract matching the salary of BAM’s top players, believed to be nearly 2 million Ringgit annually, leading to a stalemate in negotiations, reports now state that Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan have decided to renew their contracts and remain with the national team. They will represent Malaysia until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, finally settling their national team future. It is understood that negotiations are complete, and the pair are expected to formally sign the new contract this weekend. Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan have agreed to accept the terms set by BAM, which differ from their initial requests. Previously, their failure to renew after their old contract expired in December 2024 had sparked speculation about them turning independent.
