[Saba Sports News] According to GPblog, despite Max Verstappen continuously closing the gap in the F1 Drivers’ Championship standings, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri stated that he sees no reason for concern. The Australian driver, in an interview with GPblog, revealed that his primary goal is to recapture the strong form from the early part of the season, adding that once he and the McLaren team can achieve that, the results will follow naturally. Oscar Piastri said: “The team will obviously try to support me as much as they can, but for me, it’s just trying to have a hopeful push through this weekend and try to find that early season form again. That’s really all I’m focusing on, and if we can find that again, then great. The results will look after themselves.” It is worth noting that since returning from the summer break, Verstappen has scored 119 points (three wins, two second places, and one Sprint race victory), which is the same total points acquired by both McLaren drivers combined post-summer break. Currently, Verstappen still trails Piastri in the standings, but the gap to the lead has been significantly reduced to 40 points.
