[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Gerard Pique submitted a €12 million invoice to a judge to prove the legitimacy of the mediation services related to the Super Cup. Due to suspicions of illegal actions involving Pique’s company and the Spanish Football Federation regarding the hosting of the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, Spanish courts froze Pique’s company accounts in April 2024, preventing him from accessing funds in these accounts. According to a related agreement signed in 2019, the Super Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia for the next ten years, with the Spanish Football Federation earning €40 million annually, while Pique’s company will earn €4 million annually. If the agreement is honored until its conclusion in 2029, the Spanish Football Federation will receive €400 million, and Pique’s company will receive €40 million. On March 12, local time, Pique submitted 15 invoices and other evidence to the investigating judge, with a total value of €12 million. Pique hopes to demonstrate that the contract between his company and the Spanish Football Federation, as well as Saudi parties, is legitimate and that the mediation services he provided are lawful. Additionally, Pique will be investigated in Madrid’s preliminary hearing court on March 14, 2025, where he will have the opportunity to explain his role in the Super Cup’s relocation to Saudi Arabia.
