[Saba Sports News] In the women’s singles semifinal of the recently held Korea Open, “South Korean top seed” An Se-young defeated Thai star Pornpawee Chochuwong. However, the match between An Se-young and Pornpawee Chochuwong did not proceed smoothly. After narrowly losing the first game 19-21, Chochuwong conceded consecutive points at the start of the second game. When trailing 0-7, possibly feeling rushed in her play, she unexpectedly injured herself while moving, twisting her left leg. Subsequently, Chochuwong, with tears in her eyes, was forced to retire. An Se-young, who has also experienced injuries in competitions, empathized deeply and crossed the court to check on Chochuwong’s condition. It is worth mentioning that Chochuwong’s injury might be quite serious, as she had to leave the court in a wheelchair. Currently, Chochuwong is still undergoing examination and treatment. BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul also promptly arrived at the player rest area to inquire about Chochuwong’s condition. Earlier posts from the official Badminton Association of Thailand account indicated that Chochuwong suffered a left leg muscle cramp, but the specific injury details await further examination. Here, we also wish Chochuwong a speedy recovery and a healthy return to the court.
