[Saba Sports News] Porsche is currently participating in the WEC Hypercar class; however, regrettably, this season will be their last. Recently, Porsche confirmed it will withdraw from the World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar class after the 2025 season. This decision was made against the backdrop of financial pressures and strategic adjustments facing the brand. It is reported that they will shift their motorsport focus to the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Formula E championship. However, this move has a significant impact on the WEC. As a brand with profound motorsport history and extensive influence, Porsche’s exit might lead other manufacturers to question the WEC’s appeal, which is not conducive to attracting more manufacturers in the future. If there are no manufacturers in the LMP1/Hypercar level next year, the FIA and ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) will have to propose countermeasures. The WEC might face a period of instability, affecting the competitiveness and spectacle of the championship.
