Sports News] The Premier League has reportedly banned clubs from wearing green
armbands, which were previously worn in support of the Green Football Weekend
initiative. In the previous year, clubs like Wolverhampton Wanderers wore green
armbands during the launch of the initiative. However, they have been
instructed not to wear them this year. This decision by the Premier League has
caused surprise and frustration among campaigners who see the green armbands as
a simple yet powerful symbol. Broadcasters have actively promoted the message
of vegan meals, and fans have shown their support for the campaign. However,
the Premier League’s decision has hindered the initiative. Organizers claimed
that as many as nine top clubs were interested in wearing the green armbands,
but they were informed that any information would be limited to warm-up events.
While the Premier League allowed clubs to express their support for the
initiative in 2023, they have refused to do so this year, stating that they
prefer to oversee all charity activities themselves.
