[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, major Premier League clubs are targeting football-loving families with expensive Mother’s Day gifts. Several teams have set up dedicated sections on their official websites and partnered with well-known brands including Estée Lauder to promote mother-themed products. However, prices for many of these items are more than double the high-street cost of their non-football equivalents. It is reported that Manchester United has launched a limited-edition Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum featuring the Red Devils logo. The 50ml bottle is priced at £89, while the standard version retails elsewhere for as little as £42.99. Newcastle United has a dedicated Mother’s Day section on its website, including a pink 9Forty cap in collaboration with New Era, priced at £23. Liverpool offers a Cadbury No.1 Mum milk chocolate gift box printed with the Liver Bird, costing £10 — £3 more than the standard version. Arsenal is promoting Gunners-themed presents, including a vintage-style cubic zirconia watch for £65, as well as canned Highbury English breakfast tea priced at £8, aimed at thoughtful children who want to serve morning tea to their mothers in bed.
The editor believes that some of these may sound like perfect gifts for football-loving mothers, but prices can soar on occasions like Mother’s Day, and when sold by clubs, they can be shockingly expensive.
