[Saba Sports News] According to British media, the Premier League and UK police are jointly investigating an incident where multiple Premier League players’ phone numbers were leaked on a large scale, making these stars targets for fraudsters. This issue has put the Premier League and EFL clubs on high alert, as numerous players’ private phone numbers have unfortunately fallen into the hands of scammers. In response, player liaison departments across leagues are closely collaborating to share the methods and intentions of the fraudsters. Anti-fraud police have also been involved in the investigation to uncover the culprits. Players have been warned to be wary of messages from unknown numbers and to ignore them. In many cases, fraudsters impersonate team members, sending messages to targeted players claiming they lost their phones, then asking them to add their “new number” to the team chat. In several instances, fraudsters engage in small talk with players before tricking them into providing personal information. Authorities are currently compiling a list of numbers used to contact players and the various tactics employed by the scammers.
