[Saba Sports News] Former NBA point guard Rajon Rondo was arrested on Sunday for illegal possession of a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. As reported by WDRB’s Jason Riley, the arrest occurred in Jackson County, Indiana, following a traffic stop for a violation. The officer decided to search Rondo’s car after detecting the smell of marijuana.
Indiana State Police stated on Monday that the search revealed a gun, a small amount of marijuana for personal use, and drug paraphernalia in Rondo’s vehicle. Following his arrest, Rondo was taken to Jackson County Jail but was able to post bail immediately. The charges against him are currently classified as misdemeanors.
Rondo, a four-time NBA All-Star, is under a no-contact order that prohibits him from carrying a firearm. This order originates from a 2022 incident where Rondo allegedly brandished a gun at the mother of his children.
Rondo’s last NBA season was 2021-22, during which he played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 4.8 points and 4.4 assists per game. He is a two-time NBA champion, having won titles with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and the Lakers in 2020.
