[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, earlier this year, David Raum held consultations with Pia Jensen, RB Leipzig’s nutrition advisor. Using an app, he recorded his daily diet for an entire week, including every drink, meal and snack. The records showed that Raum did not always adjust his energy intake appropriately for high-intensity training days — at times his intake was insufficient, and at other times the timing was poor. In addition, there was room for improvement in his consumption of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. With the help of a personalised nutrition plan, Raum has since paid close attention to when he consumes which types of food, precisely weighing the portion size of each meal. On high-intensity training or match days, he follows the “3+2 principle”: three main meals plus two snacks, along with a post-exercise recovery shake to replenish energy.
The editor believes that after more than three months of persistence, Raum’s physical condition and speed have reached an unprecedented level. Some of his physical fitness indicators have even improved by about 20%, and his sprint speed has never been higher than it is now during his time at RB Leipzig.
