[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid has lost approximately 9 million euros in bonuses for not reaching the top eight in the Champions League. However, the team can partially offset this loss through ticket sales for the home matches in the playoffs. The reports indicate that due to not making the top eight, Real Madrid has lost about 9 million euros in revenue and has yet to receive the 11 million euros they should have gotten for reaching the Round of 16.
Real Madrid can compensate for the loss through ticket income and winning bonuses from the home matches held at the Bernabéu. If they successfully eliminate Benfica and advance, they could also regain that 11 million euros. So far, Real Madrid has accumulated 39 million euros in tournament bonuses. About half of this amount comes from the fixed income available to all 36 teams participating in the group stage.
Real Madrid lost 9.2 million euros during the eight group stage matches. Losses from defeats against Liverpool, Manchester City, and Benfica amounted to 6.3 million euros. Additionally, ranking six places lower in the final round resulted in a 1.9 million euro loss. The extra bonus for entering the top eight is 2 million euros, compared to the 1 million euros awarded to those ranked 9th to 24th, leading to a total loss of 9.2 million euros. Furthermore, this does not include the 11 million euros not yet received for participating in the Round of 16.
