[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media, Real Madrid’s appeal was rejected by UEFA, and several players were punished. On Monday local time, UEFA rejected Real Madrid’s appeal against the sanctions imposed on Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe, and Dani Ceballos. These penalties stemmed from their misconduct during the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, which took place in March this year. Additionally, UEFA confirmed the fine imposed on Real Madrid for the behavior of fans during the match against Arsenal in London. Rudiger, Mbappe, and Ceballos were each fined €40,000, €30,000, and €20,000 respectively for “violating basic conduct rules,” as per UEFA’s disciplinary regulations, article 11.2.b. These penalties were issued following Atletico Madrid’s complaints about inappropriate gestures made by these players after the European derby. Rudiger was fined for touching his neck, Mbappe for making provocative gestures toward the stands, and Ceballos for similar behavior. In addition to the fines, Rudiger and Mbappe received a one-match suspension in UEFA competitions, which will be suspended for one year and only take effect if they break the rules again.
