[Saba Sports News] Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko admitted in an interview with sport.de that the termination of contract with Mexican driver Sergio Perez has cost the Red Bull team millions of dollars. In recent years, Perez has played an important role in the team’s success; however, entering 2024, the Red Bull car and his driving style no longer suited each other. Perez’s struggling performances ultimately led the Red Bull team to lose the Constructors’ Championship for the 2024 season. Consequently, the Red Bull team had to buy out Perez’s contract for 2025 and 2026, which was signed midway through the last season. As for what Perez will do next, Marko believes he still holds hope for F1, even though all driver seats for 2025 are already filled. Regarding the possibility of returning to F1, 34-year-old Perez stated that it is too early to answer this question; he intends to spend time with his family in the first half of 2025 before deciding on the next step in his career. Perez revealed that if a good and interesting project comes up, he will definitely explore and consider it.
