[Saba Sports News] ust before an eagerly awaited match on April 5, the Hyderabad Cricket Stadium faced an unexpected issue. Reports have emerged that the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) did not settle its electricity bills with DISCOM, leading to a power cut at the venue. It was revealed that HCA had accumulated dues of 1.6 crores over seven years.
Despite being served a notice in February 2024, HCA’s failure to respond prompted the electricity department to disconnect the stadium’s power supply, as detailed by Newsmeter.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been making waves in the IPL, living up to their pre-season buzz. They secured Pat Cummins for a record 20.5 crores, who then took over the captaincy from Aiden Markram.
The team’s ambition to leverage Cummins’ successful leadership was evident, although they faced a mixed start. They lost their opener to Kolkata Knight Riders but bounced back dramatically against Mumbai Indians. In that match, they set a new IPL record for the highest team total, scoring 277 runs and securing a 31-run victory, surpassing Royal Challengers Bangalore’s previous record.
