[Saba Sports News] In recent years, the progress of Malaysian women’s singles badminton has been limited. In response, the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s Director of Coaching, Rexy Mainaky, urged players during an interview to adopt a better fighting attitude. Rexy bluntly stated that many women’s singles players often complain about the difficulty of training, and these complaints are becoming more frequent. However, the association hopes that they realize if they want to achieve good results, they should not complain. Instead, they need to understand their goals and how to reach them; if they feel exhausted after just a bit of training, such an attitude would have resulted in them being kicked out of the national team in countries like China, Indonesia, or Japan. Rexy also cited Thai player Chochuwong Pornpawee as an example, pointing out that she was once defeated by Malaysian players but made it to the semifinals in the current Super 1000 Malaysia Open, while local players performed poorly. Rexy emphasized that he does not believe the quality of Malaysian women’s singles players is poor; he simply thinks they need to make more sacrifices in their pursuit.
