[Saba Sports News] Draymond Green is in his fifth playoff series against Houston, and the Rockets faithful still aren’t fans.
During Game 2 of the first-round matchup on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors forward was greeted by a profane chant from the crowd at Toyota Center. As players lined up for a third-quarter jump ball, fans erupted with a loud “F–k you, Draymond!” chant. (The moment was captured on video, with the expletive bleeped.)
The outburst appeared to be triggered by Green’s antics toward Rockets forward Tari Eason just before the jump, which caused a brief delay. Green had several other physical moments throughout the game, many of which were featured in a TNT highlight reel.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Green, who’s built a reputation for his aggressive and often controversial style of play. He and the Warriors have faced the Rockets in four previous playoff series (2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019), winning all four. That history has only added to the tension with Houston fans.
Given Green’s track record, it’s no surprise he draws boos—and worse—wherever he plays. Wednesday’s chant was just the latest chapter in a long-running rivalry.
