[Saba Sports News] Real Madrid have officially confirmed that Rodrygo has been ruled out for the season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. Notably, Rodrygo had already missed most of Madrid’s games since February due to tendinitis. He returned as a substitute in the 55th minute of Real Madrid’s 0-1 defeat to Getafe, but twisted his knee in the 66th minute – yet played on until the final whistle. This insistence on finishing the match worsened his injury significantly; the 30 minutes he played after the twist directly caused his meniscus to tear. Rodrygo is expected to be sidelined for around 10 months. He will not only miss the rest of the year’s fixtures but has also been ruled out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In addition, the Brazilian international’s career will face a major setback once he attempts to return to action.
The editor believes that missing the World Cup at the peak of his career will be a major blow to Rodrygo’s professional life. By the 2030 World Cup, he will turn 29 years old. Furthermore, even if Rodrygo returns to the pitch later, as a forward, he will most likely lose the speed and explosive power he has always been proud of.
