Currently, Barcelona is staying at the Annapolis Hotel in the United States, preparing for the friendly match El Clasico against Real Madrid. Since his departure from the training camp was announced to address his future, Romeu recently set off back to Spain early and bid farewell to his Barcelona teammates at the hotel. The 32-year-old Romeu joined Barcelona last summer for 3.4 million euros. Romeu made a total of 37 appearances for Barcelona, contributing one assist. According to Spanish media, Romeu is set to return to Girona on loan. It is worth noting that Romeu’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2026. When he transferred from Girona to Barcelona last summer, there was significant displeasure between the two clubs as Barcelona did not negotiate amicably with Girona but instead directly paid the buyout clause to acquire him, which left Girona very dissatisfied.
