[Saba Sports News] Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves had a day to forget on Tuesday.
In a pivotal matchup with major playoff seeding implications, the Timberwolves collapsed in spectacular fashion, blowing a 24-point fourth-quarter lead to lose 110-103 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Up 95-71 with just under 10 minutes left, Minnesota was outscored 39-8 the rest of the way in a stunning meltdown.
Amid the chaos, Gobert got into a heated exchange with Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. As Gobert tried to set a screen for Anthony Edwards around the three-minute mark, he tangled with Porter, spinning him around before falling to the floor.
Porter stood over Gobert in frustration, and once Gobert got back up, both players exchanged shoves before teammates intervened.
The scuffle earned Gobert and Porter double technicals, while Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr. also received a tech for shoving Gobert in the back after things had calmed down. Despite Minnesota getting a free throw out of it — which Edwards sank — the Bucks still outscored the Wolves 13-5 down the stretch to seal the win.
Gobert, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, ended the night with a quiet stat line: six points, nine rebounds, and no blocks. Meanwhile, Porter posted 21 crucial points — and added his name to the growing list of players who’ve gotten under Gobert’s skin on the court.
