[Saba Sports News] Russell Westbrook has made a decision on his Los Angeles Clippers contract, but it may not clarify his future as much as expected.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Westbrook has picked up his $4 million player option for next season. While this suggests he will stay with the Clippers, Law Murray and Jenna West of The Athletic report that it is “still undetermined” if he will be on the team’s roster next season.
Earlier reports indicated that Westbrook’s return to the Clippers was unlikely, as he is seeking a larger role elsewhere. This move may be a strategy to secure his $4 million while exploring other options. Whether the Clippers will cooperate remains uncertain.
Last season, the nine-time All-Star averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, mostly coming off the bench, a role he publicly accepted but may not have been entirely satisfied with.
