[Saba Sports News] Sachin Tendulkar recently delighted fans by playing gully cricket amid the stunning landscape of Gulmarg, Kashmir. His journey didn’t stop there; he also explored the Uri region in Jammu and Kashmir, visited the Aman Setu bridge, and engaged with soldiers at the nearby Kaman Post during a visit that lasted about an hour.
In addition, Tendulkar toured the Kashmir Willow facility, a renowned producer of cricket bats from the locally grown Kashmir willow trees, known for their premium quality. Reflecting on his early cricketing days, Tendulkar shared that his first cricket bat, a gift from his sister, was made of Kashmir willow. He shared his experience visiting the MJ Sports Bat factory in Gulmarg on X (previously Twitter), where he was shown around by the owners and tested different bats.
Highlighting his visit, Tendulkar mentioned, “The first bat given to me was by my sister and it was a Kashmir willow bat. Now that I’m here, it’s fitting to meet with Kashmir willow. P.S: An interesting fact; some of my favorite bats had only about 5-6 grains. How many grains do your bats have?”

Mohammad Shaheen Parray, the owner of MJ Sports, recounted how Tendulkar’s visit took them by surprise. He appreciated Tendulkar’s interest in the bats and his promise to support the Kashmir willow industry.
“We were making bats when Tendulkar and his family arrived unexpectedly. He tried a few bats and praised their quality. He aimed to compare Kashmir willow bats with English willow ones. We asked for his support for our local bats,” Parray shared.
