[Saba Sports News] Since the resignation of F1 legend Sebastian Vettel from his position as director of the F1 Drivers’ Association (GPDA) last year, the role has remained vacant. Amid speculations from various media about who would be the next director, the question has finally been publicly answered. According to the latest news from Williams Racing, their driver Carlos Sainz has become the new director of the GPDA. Sainz later confirmed this on social media, expressing his passion for the sport and stating that drivers have a responsibility to collaborate with various parties to promote the development of F1. He is very happy and proud to serve as a GPDA director and contribute his part. The role of GPDA director is significant, requiring representation of the driver community and communication with the FIA on issues of concern to drivers, as well as advocating for driver rights in negotiations with event organizers, teams, sponsors, and others to ensure that driver rights are fully protected.
