[Saba Sports News] Recently, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah shared a photo of a Christmas tree on social media, which drew harsh criticism from many Muslims in the comments section. Salah has traditionally posted family-themed photos during Christmas for several years, and this year he shared a picture of his 11-year-old daughter Makka and 5-year-old daughter Kayan sitting by the Christmas tree, captioned “Merry Christmas.” This short message sparked a storm on social media.
One fan wrote, “I thought you wouldn’t celebrate this holiday; it’s forbidden in our faith.” Another fan said, “As a Manchester City fan, I once admired Salah and considered you my idol. Even though you never played for City, you inspired me. However, after seeing this tweet, I no longer view you as my idol; you’ve hurt my feelings. If you don’t delete this tweet, I will unfollow you.”
Some fans stated, “You are a Muslim… you should respect your religion and culture… what are you showing to millions of people?”
However, some other fans believe that if we can tolerate each other’s differences, the world would be a better place.
