[Saba Sports News] Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker had an impressive yet bittersweet 62-point performance on Friday. Despite his second-highest career total, the Suns lost 133-131 to the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, breaking their 7-game winning streak and overshadowing Booker’s achievement.
Simultaneously, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic outshone Booker by scoring 73 points in a game against Atlanta at State Farm Arena. This led to fans on social media joking about Booker not only losing the game but also being eclipsed by Doncic in the spotlight.
Both players’ performances might have been fueled by the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s death on January 26. Bryant, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers player, scored 81 points almost two decades ago, a feat Booker and Doncic seemed close to challenging.
The Suns and Mavericks had just faced each other on Wednesday, where Booker outperformed Doncic in Dallas. Intriguingly, Doncic was heckled by a fan wearing a Booker jersey, who later received attention from Booker himself.
The high-scoring games by both Booker and Doncic add another layer to their growing rivalry.
