[Saba Sports News] In the previously held sixth round of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund drew 2-2 at home against Bodo/Glimt. After the match, Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck’s comments during an interview sparked considerable controversy. Schlotterbeck stated, “Today, Dortmund players were each playing their own game, and that includes the substitutes who came on. I always say that ‘a winner’s mentality means you are focused on finishing the match,’ but we completely failed to do that. We always want to play attractively, but that’s not enough; we are playing in the Champions League. Not winning today’s match isn’t about being bitter or not; we simply played too poorly. I feel like some of us didn’t realize how important today’s match was. Dortmund must win the next two matches to qualify directly for the Champions League knockout stage; otherwise, we’ll have to play two additional playoff matches, and then the players will complain about too many games.”Schlotterbeck was particularly dissatisfied with the commitment level of teammates who came on as substitutes in the second half. He remarked, “If you come on in the 60th minute, I expect to see you give your all for the next 30 minutes.”
