[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Scotland will declare June 15 as a holiday to celebrate their first World Cup qualification in 28 years. The Scottish government announced on Monday that the First Minister will propose a motion allowing individuals, businesses, and other organizations in Scotland to celebrate on June 15, the day after their opening group match against Haiti in this year’s World Cup. Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf stated in a declaration: ‘The qualification of the Scottish national football team for the World Cup is an incredible achievement and a milestone moment, and the dramatic victory over Denmark reminded us all of the significance of football for this country. This year, we hope to fully leverage this tremendous opportunity for Scotland and ensure as many people as possible have the chance to celebrate the team’s success. This is not only a historic sporting event but also an opportunity for Scotland to step onto the world stage, attract business development, stimulate domestic tourism, and forge cultural and sporting connections.’ In the final round of the European qualifying group stage, Scotland secured a dramatic victory over Denmark, surpassing their opponent in the standings to qualify directly for the World Cup for the first time in 28 years. In the World Cup draw, they have been grouped with Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti in Group C.
