[Saba Sports News] Serge Ibaka, a former NBA standout, is set to join his fourth team in as many years, but this time it’s not in the United States.
The veteran European sports journalist Marc Mundet reported that Ibaka is signing with Bayern Munich in Germany. Bayern competes in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) domestically and the EuroLeague internationally, not to be confused with its soccer affiliate.
Ibaka, who is 33 years old and a three-time All-Defensive team selection, had spent 14 seasons in the NBA, but his performance had declined in recent years. This decline led to his falling out of favor with his former team, the Milwaukee Bucks, last season, and he expressed dissatisfaction with his treatment in Milwaukee.
While it may come as a surprise for a player of Ibaka’s NBA caliber, he has chosen to return to Europe, where he played professionally before his NBA career, to conclude the twilight of his basketball journey.
