[Saba Sports News] Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is carrying the weight of a franchise and fanbase as he looks to lead the Thunder to their first-ever championship.
It’s been a milestone year for the dynamic point guard, highlighted not only by his Finals run but also by the release of his debut signature sneaker with Converse.
Gilgeous-Alexander recently revealed the latest colorway of the Converse SHAI 001, titled “Masi Blue”, a heartfelt tribute to his brother Thomasi. He debuted the pair during Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Since signing with Converse in 2020, SGA has become more than just a brand ambassador—he inked an extension to serve as the company’s Creative Director. His influence has been felt across both performance and lifestyle designs, culminating in the launch of the Converse SHAI 001 in 2025.
Each SHAI 001 colorway has carried a personal connection. The “Charm Black” was dedicated to his mother, while the “Ares Grey” was inspired by the eyes of his first-born son. Now, “Masi Blue” joins the lineup, continuing the theme of family-driven storytelling.
The sneaker itself features Converse’s latest basketball performance outsole, combined with a signature zipped upper that conceals a traditional lacing system beneath.
True to form, each version of the SHAI 001 showcases a monochromatic design, allowing the chosen color to stand out as the shoe’s defining trait.
With previous releases in black, grey, butter, and clay, the introduction of a bold blue felt like a natural next step.
While Converse has yet to announce an official release date, the full lineup of five launch colorways is expected to drop in Fall 2025, retailing at $130. Stylish, performance-ready, and deeply personal, the SHAI 001 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated basketball sneakers of the year—as Gilgeous-Alexander continues to make his mark on and off the court.
