[Saba Sports News] According to Jamie Shaw of On3, Shaqir has entered the transfer portal. The junior forward spent last season at Florida A&M, his first year with the program after two seasons at Texas Southern.
In 2024–25, O’Neal averaged 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game. He played in 29 games for the Rattlers, starting 17 of them and carving out a steady role.
A 3-star recruit out of high school (per his Florida A&M bio), Shaqir is listed at 6’8″, 200 pounds. While he may not be a breakout star, there’s a good chance another program will see value in his size and experience.
Shaqir isn’t the only member of the O’Neal family pursuing basketball. His older brother, Shareef O’Neal, has spent recent seasons chasing a pro career in the G League, though he’s currently a free agent.
