[Saba Sports News] Discussions about England’s ‘Bazball’ cricket strategy have intensified in anticipation of their upcoming Test series against India, beginning January 25. England’s mixed results with this approach have led experts like Michael Vaughan to suggest they might need to adapt to Indian conditions. Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, when queried about ‘Bazball’, emphasized focusing on his team’s strategies rather than the opposition’s mindset. “Honestly, I don’t dwell on the opposition’s plans. It’s crucial for us to stick to our plans and focus on our abilities,” Iyer said.
Separately, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid addressed rumors about Iyer’s non-selection for the T20I series against Afghanistan, denying any disciplinary issues. “Shreyas Iyer’s absence is purely due to selection choices, given the abundance of batting talent,” Dravid clarified.
Dravid acknowledged the difficulty in accommodating all players in the squad or playing eleven, emphasizing that there were no disciplinary considerations in Iyer’s case. After a challenging series in South Africa, where Iyer struggled, selectors advised him to play in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, as part of his Test preparation. In a recent match, Iyer scored 48 runs against Andhra’s bowling attack.
Regarding the England Test series, Iyer stated his focus on taking it one match at a time, rather than looking too far ahead. “The aim is to perform in the first two games and then approach the rest of the series,” Iyer concluded.
