[Saba Sports News] Shubman Gill, newly appointed captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), recently met teammate Rashid Khan ahead of IPL 2024. Rashid, having undergone successful minor lower-back surgery in the UK post-ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, is in recovery.
His impactful performances for Afghanistan in the World Cup, especially against England and Pakistan, were notable. However, this break led to his absence from the Big Bash League (BBL).
Rashid shared a photo with Gill on Instagram, captioning it with gratitude, which garnered attention from fans and cricket personalities, including Michael Vaughan and GT. Vaughan expressed admiration, while GT extended good wishes to avoid any misfortune.
“Love this.” GT, on the other hand, were hoping that there was no evil eye cast on both the stars as they wrote, “Nazar na lage,” including an evil eye emoji.
Gill, who replaced Hardik Pandya as GT’s captain after Pandya’s move to Mumbai Indians, expressed enthusiasm for the leadership role. He anticipates learning and growing from the experience to enhance his future performances.
“I’m going to be captaining Gujarat Titans. That’s a very exciting challenge. And there are going to be a lot of learnings from that experience. And hopefully, I can take those learnings and improve and work on myself based on those experiences and learnings. And hopefully, that is going to help me in the next year,” shared Gill.
