[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, during Barcelona’s 2-0 away victory over Getafe, overseas internet users shared a peculiar way of watching the match that first emerged years ago. Reports stated that several fans chose to climb tall trees near Getafe’s stadium to watch the game for free from a high vantage point. While such scenes add a touch of fun to football, they also pose potential safety hazards, especially for young children. In addition, the stadium is surrounded by green spaces and trees, which are relatively close to certain stands. Anyone climbing high enough can find an angle to view part of the pitch. Another key factor lies in the height of the stands and the orientation of the pitch. From certain external spots, particularly around the corners and rear areas, views are not fully blocked, allowing people to watch the match by “peeking” without entering the stadium.
The editor believes that this phenomenon is not unique to Getafe. Many older stadiums or venues with poor enclosures have long had such “free viewing spots”, where fans can watch matches for free from hillsides, buildings or trees. For instance, Ipurua Stadium is well-known for its external viewing angles, with people being able to catch glimpses of Eibar’s games from nearby residential buildings.
