South Africa head coach Hugo Broos talked about group stage opponent South Korea at the pre-World Cup press conference. He admitted that when the World Cup draw was released, he barely knew Korean football, with the only familiar Korean footballer being his former player Seol Ki-hyeon. Even Son Heung-min, South Korea’s star
forward, was little known to him back then. Although his coaching staff has spent months conducting targeted scouting on South Korea, Broos still finds it hard to memorize the players’ names.

Broos stated that South Korea boasts outstanding tactical discipline and strong physicality, making them extremely tricky opponents. The four teams in Group A of this World Cup are closely matched in overall

strength, without any outright dominant side. South Africa fear none of South Korea, Czech Republic and Mexico. The team will fight for victories in every match and strive to earn enough points to qualify for the next round.
