[Saba Sports News] South Africa has officially launched a bidding process inviting potential event promoters to bid for a long-term partner for the possible future hosting of the F1 South African Grand Prix. According to the tender documents published on the DSAC website, the proposed cooperation period is set for 10 years. Regarding track conditions, the South African Sports Department has outlined several requirements. Firstly, the track must be located within a 30-minute drive from major cities or popular tourist destinations, with convenient transportation options. Secondly, there must be access to hotels meeting international 3 to 5-star standards within 30 minutes via various transport modes. Thirdly, the venue must accommodate at least 125,000 spectators daily, ensuring that 75% arrive via public transport. Fourthly, the track length should be between 4.5 to 5.5 kilometers, with flexibility for adjustment if approved by F1 management; the design should prioritize at least one kilometer of full-throttle straight. Fifthly, the track should integrate with the natural terrain, retaining elevation changes. Lastly, the track width must be at least 12 meters. It is reported that the tender is open to all qualifying tracks, and proposals from other permanent circuits and temporary street circuits, in addition to permanent facilities like Kyalami, are welcome.
