[Saba Sports News] According to Portuguese media reports, Sporting Lisbon will continue to appeal for €30 million in damages from Inter. It is reported that Portuguese midfielder Joao Mario transferred from Sporting Lisbon to Inter in 2016, but there was a special clause in the contract stating that if Joao Mario transferred to a Primeira Liga team, Sporting Lisbon would have the right of first buying on the player. However, Joao Mario did not adapt well at Inter and was loaned out multiple times. In 2021, Inter terminated his contract with the player, after which Joao Mario joined Benfica for free. Sporting Lisbon believes that Inter’s termination of the contract with Joao Mario harmed their economic interests. Previously, Sporting Lisbon had already sued Inter at FIFA for €30 million in damages. In July last year, FIFA rejected Sporting Lisbon’s appeal, but Sporting Lisbon appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). It is reported that CAS has announced that a hearing for this case will be held on December 9 this year.
